This structure was built as a Methodist parsonage circa 1924 on the site of John W. Carr's old house. The structure was moved to the north of the lot in 1935 to make way for a Pure Oil service station [1].

In February 1939 the house and property was sold to Marguerite Judson [2]. Judson sold it to Carl Smith in 1946 [3]. He rented the structure to the Kappa Psi (pharmacy) fraternity beginning in the 1950s.

In early 1968, Smith decided to lease the house to the City of Chapel Hill (for a future parking lot), which the Kappa Psi fraternity residents learned about from the Chapel Hill Weekly.

The house was demolished in April, 1970 to make way for ... wait for it... wait for it...yup, a parking lot!
