Looking northeast from Calvin and S. Hillsborough, ~1990 (Susan Bellinger)

A wood-frame store stood on this corner on the 1924 Sanborn Map, apparently facing Calvin Street. (And the 1943 Sanborn as well.) It appears in the above photograph that after 1943 the building may have been partially brick veneered and oriented towards Hillsborough Ave.

The building was demolished around 1995 and replaced with a neotraditional house.

This one-and-a-half-story, side-gabled house stands on the site of an earlier frame store building that was demolished in 1995 [HDC]. The house has vinyl siding and windows and a six-panel door with a classical pilastered surround that is sheltered by a front-gabled porch with arched ceiling that is supported by square columns. There are paired windows on the façade and in the gables. A shed-roofed section extends from the left rear (northeast). Low stone planters extend across the front of the house. County tax records date the building to 1996.
