One of the early structures (lot 35) built in the Gimghoul-Piney Prospect Development. This two-story dwelling was built in 1924 for Daniel L. Grant, first UNC alumni secretary.

The one-story wings are late 20th century additions.

1925 Sanborn map excerpt

From the NRHP Gimghoul Neighborhood Historic District registration form:

"2-story frame Colonial Revival, with plain siding, hipped roof, interior brick chimney, 8/8 window sash, 3-bay front porch with Doric posts and flanking 1-story frame wings that are additions. Built for Dan Grant, first UNC alumni secretary."
