In 1915, the old Cedar Grove Public School (for white students), or at least part of it, was moved from property owned by Annie Hughes. It was renovated, repainted, and then utilized for African-American students. It replaced an older log structure that was deconstructed and its materials sold.
In 1936, a new wood-frame building replaced this earlier structure.
