JACK FREELAND HOUSE

Text from Orange County survey performed by hmw Preservation 2017
”Located just south of the amphitheater, the log house is accessed via a gravel drive north of White Pine Trail and has notable stone walls lining the driveway as it nears the house. The house faces north, away from the driveway and is a two-bay-wide, side-gabled log house with stone chimney in the west elevation, shed- roofed porch on dressed timbers on stone piers, and one-over-one windows. It has a gabled wing at the rear (south) and a variety of additions at the southeast, some frame and some log, mostly obscured by high wood fences that appears to screen outdoor living area. The log portion of the rambling building may have been moved to the site, and with so many additions the chronology of the building is difficult to decipher.”
