The site of an earlier store. Brothers EricĀ A. and Stacy J. Neville owned/operated this Texaco service station in the 1930s. In the 1940s, they opened a new gas station across the street, and this building and business was taken over by Jesse L. Cate. Jack Rigsbee continued it as the West End Service Station, selling Esso products and groceries, until it was demolished circa 1970.
West Main Street was part of Highway 54 originally. The property is now empty (and is an odd "island") and is owned by the Town of Carrboro.
