This one-story, two-room structure was built in 1858; the architect is said to have beenĀ Alexander Jackson Davis. It was the last building erected by the university until after the Civil War.

It was used as an infirmary until 1891. The structure was demolished (likely dismantled and/or moved) by 1924-1925, when Spencer Hall and the new, larger Chapel of the Cross were constructed.
