A 1913 "improvement" of an existing railroad crossing, construction costs were divided between the Southern Railway company and the Good Roads Commission.
This underpass has quite an elaborate water drainage system associated with it, as water from surface runoff and from Rhodes Creek had/has to be diverted to maintain the road.
